Welcome Indiana Soil and Water Conservation Districts

The Woodland Steward Institute (WSI) welcomes 28 county Soil and Water Conservation Districts as supporters of the Woodland Steward Newsletter. Because of their financial commitment, the WSI will be able to increase its newsletter distribution from 26,000 to 35,000. This will enable the WSI to include 12 additional counties of landowners who own 10 acres or more of woodland into our database.

The WSI Board of Directors thanks the following SWCD’s for their financial contribution: Brown, Cass, Clark, Clay, Decatur, Dekalb, Elkhart, Floyd, Fountain, Gibson, Greene, Jennings, Knox, Martin, Monroe, Morgan, Owen, Orange, Parke, Putman, Ripley, Rush, Starke, Sullivan, Tipton, Vermillion, Vigo, and Washington counties.  The goal of this new partnership is to educate the more than 80,000 private woodland owners about the treasurer they own their woodland. From the newsletter, woodland owners will have access to current statewide woodland information as well as access to our web site at www.inwoodlands.org which archives back issues, as well as information on numerous natural resource topics and links to other sites.

Each county SWCD in the state was asked to become a supporter of the newsletter. If your county is not noted and you think your local SWCD should be supporting the newsletter, please make a call to the county office, or better, plan to attend the next board meeting to voice your support. We still have additional woodland owners to reach.

Because of the increase in distribution, there may be a few growing pains. If you receive more than one newsletter, please return the duplication with instructions to delete, address change, etc. Or, you can email any changes or corrections to the editor at purfor@seidata.com.
